Amigurumi Springbok
by Stephanie Davies
Springbok is made using spirals and circles (closed with slip stitches) and uses the magic ring and provides invisible reduction as well as color changes.
The pattern written is in UK terminology, but easy to convert to US terminology as only double crochet is used. Just use plain crochet throughout.
Will need
2 balls of Vinnis Color Nikkim 100% Cotton Color Path Sand (578)
1 ball of Vinnis Color Nikkim 100% Traced Cotton in Chestnut (503), Mahogany (557) and Bottle Green (594). You can substitute another DK yarn for about 119 m / 50 g. (If the thread is substituted, choose one that does not stretch as it will affect the shape of the rhino. Using threads of different weights will change the size).
Size suitable for 3.5mm and 4mm crochet or correct tension
One pair of 12mm safety eyes
1 safety pin used as a sewing marker
Fiber filling
Tapestry needle
scissors
Springbok difficulty: intermediate level
NOTE:
The published model had errors in the head and body, these have been corrected in the online version.
As an apology, I have included instructions on how to transform Springbok into a unicorn.
You will need 1 ball for 2 balls of Gray Vinnis Colors Serina and Light Aqua and a pair of 9mm safety eyes for the unicorn.
